Wombats

"The Wombat is a Joy, a Triumph, a Delight, a Madness!"

~ Dante Gabriel Rossetti

The southern hairy-nosed wombat

This hobbitine creature was the joy, triumph, and delight of my Ph. D. research, and continues to be a certain madness. I have six publications from this time, and my Ph. D. dissertation is downloadable at the bottom of this page.

My research page from this era is no longer up, but I've made a pdf of it at the bottom of this page.

UPDATE: In April 2017 my team and I returned to South Australia to resample wombat hair from my main study site at Brookfield Conservation Park. We wanted to know if my individuals from the early 2000's are still alive and whether they or their offspring are using the same warrens. We presented at the 20th Anniversary Wombat Conference in September 2018, and in 2020 four papers appeared in a special Wombat issue of Australian Mammalogy.
